Wool & Cashmere

Wool & Cashmere breathe. They insulate. They soften with every wear.

At CLSEN, we choose wool and cashmere not only for their warmth and luxury—but for what they embody. Sourced from the fleece of sheep and the undercoat of Himalayan goats, these natural protein fibres are renewable, biodegradable, and incredibly resilient. They regulate temperature, wick moisture, and resist odours naturally. Cashmere adds unparalleled softness, while wool offers structure and durability. Together, they age gracefully—becoming more comfortable and personal over time.

To keep your wool and cashmere at their best, here’s how to care for them:

Washing

  • Hand wash in cool water (max 30°C) using a mild, wool‑specific detergent—never use regular laundry soap or enzymes

  • If machine washing, use a dedicated wool/delicate cycle with a mesh bag, and ensure the spin speed is low

  • Soak for no more than 5–10 minutes; gently squeeze (never rub or wring) to avoid felting

  • Rinse thoroughly in cool water until all detergent is removed

  • Never use bleach, optical brighteners, or fabric softener—they coat fibres and ruin the natural crimp

Drying

  • After washing, gently press out excess water by rolling the garment in a clean towel—do not twist

  • Reshape carefully and lay flat on a dry towel in the shade, away from direct heat or sunlight

  • Never hang wool or cashmere when wet—gravity will stretch and distort the garment permanently

  • Allow to dry naturally; keep away from radiators or tumble dryers, as heat causes shrinkage and fibre damage

Storage

  • Ensure the garment is completely dry before storing to prevent mildew or mustiness

  • Store folded in a cool, dry, dark place—hanging can cause shoulder bumps and stretching over time

  • Use breathable cotton storage bags or wrap in acid‑free tissue paper; avoid plastic bags which trap moisture

  • Protect from moths with natural repellents like cedar blocks or lavender sachets—place them nearby, but not in direct contact with the fabric

  • Air out your pieces occasionally, especially before long‑term storage

Ironing

  • Iron inside‑out on a low‑heat setting (wool/silk temperature) while the fabric is slightly damp

  • Always use a pressing cloth between the iron and the garment to prevent shine or scorching

  • For cashmere, steaming is preferred—hang the garment and use a hand steamer at a distance to relax wrinkles without crushing the pile

  • Never press firmly—use a gentle gliding motion to avoid flattening the natural loft

Important

  • Do not tumble dry—high heat will shrink, felt, and permanently harden the fibres

  • Avoid frequent washing; wool and cashmere are self‑cleaning—air them out between wears to refresh

  • For heavily soiled or delicate items, professional dry‑cleaning is always a safe option

  • Always check the care label inside your CLSEN garment for specific blend percentages and finish recommendations

Wool and cashmere ask for little, and give back warmth that lasts a lifetime.

Care for them gently, and they will wrap you in comfort through every season to come.
