Natural Blends

Natural blends breathe, adapt, and evolve with you.

At CLSEN, we choose blended natural fibres not for a single virtue—but for the harmony they create. By marrying linen with cotton, silk with wool, or other thoughtful combinations, we amplify the best of each: the crispness of linen, the softness of cotton, the sheen of silk, the warmth of wool. These blends are renewable, biodegradable, and often more resilient than their pure counterparts—wrinkle‑resistant yet breathable, lightweight yet insulating. Every piece tells a story of balance, and with time, it becomes uniquely yours.

To keep your natural‑blend garment at its best, here’s how to care for it:

Washing

  • Always follow the care label first—the most delicate fibre in the blend dictates the washing method

  • Hand wash in cool water (max 30°C) or use a gentle machine cycle with a mild, natural detergent

  • Choose a pH‑neutral or fibre‑specific detergent—avoid bleach, optical brighteners, or enzyme‑based formulas

  • Wash separately or with similar light‑weight fabrics; avoid mixing with heavy items like denim or pieces with zippers

  • Skip fabric softener—it coats the fibres, reduces breathability, and can dull natural lustre

Drying

  • Gently squeeze out excess water—never wring or twist—then roll in a clean towel to absorb moisture

  • Reshape the garment while damp and lay it flat on a towel in the shade, away from direct sunlight and heat sources

  • If the blend is cotton‑ or linen‑heavy, you may hang it to dry, but only after supporting the shoulders; for silk‑ or wool‑rich blends, always lay flat to prevent stretching

  • Never expose to direct sunlight for prolonged periods, which can fade colours and weaken fibres

Storage

  • Ensure the garment is completely dry before storing to avoid mildew or musty odours

  • Store in a cool, dry, dark place—fold most blends to preserve shape; hang only if the fabric is sturdy (e.g., high cotton or linen content) and use padded hangers

  • For blends with wool or cashmere, protect against moths with cedar blocks or lavender sachets, kept at a distance

  • Avoid plastic bags; use breathable cotton garment bags or wrap in acid‑free tissue paper

Ironing

  • Iron inside‑out on a low‑to‑medium setting, depending on the most heat‑sensitive fibre (silk and wool require low heat; cotton and linen can tolerate medium)

  • For best results, iron while the fabric is still slightly damp, or lightly mist the garment with water before ironing

  • Always use a pressing cloth to prevent shine, especially on silk‑rich blends

  • Steaming is an excellent alternative—it relaxes wrinkles without crushing the fabric structure

Important

  • Do not tumble dry—high heat can shrink, distort, or weaken the fibre blend, especially if wool or silk is present

  • Avoid over‑washing; natural blends often refresh with a simple airing between wears

  • For heavily soiled or delicate pieces (e.g., high silk or wool content), professional dry‑cleaning is recommended

  • Always check the care label inside your CLSEN garment for the exact fibre composition and any specific instructions

Natural blends ask for mindful care, and give back versatility, comfort, and lasting beauty.

Treat them thoughtfully, and they will carry you through every season—in perfect balance.
